Coming to an end...

I took Logan on a walk today down the Spring Water Trail. We walked from our house to Foster Feed (where Eric works). It was 2 miles there and then 2 miles back. On the way there it started getting misty, I had to put up the canopy so Logan would stay dry! We got to Foster Feed and looked around at all the animals. I showed Logan the chicks and he was listening to them chirp. We looked at the kittens, but they didn't make any sounds. Then we headed back home. I did a really fast walk/jog and by the time I got home I was covered in sweat and Logan was sleeping :)

We went to Olive Garden last Thursday. IT WAS SO GOOD! I told myself I was only going to eat half of my pasta bowl and take the rest home...yeah right! I ate the whole one and then another refill! I only had 1 bread stick and 1 serving of salad though. I think it's okay to be naughty once in awhile. I will see what that scale says on Wednesday - I hope I wasn't TOO naughty!

I'm all caught up in Logan's scrapbook - so I don't know what else to do with my time while he's napping! I guess I could start reading...I just haven't been in a "reading mood." School starts really soon (7ish more days) so then I won't be complaining about being bored. And I will add that I'm only bored when Logan is napping.

I was really hoping we'd get to go to the beach this summer, even if it was for the day. But I don't think that's going to happen. It's okay though, we have a trip planned in November to go to Seaside with Amber, her husband Scott, and daughter Riley. It should be a lot of fun! We are going to be staying at the time-share. Hard to believe that Logan will be 6 months then!

Poor Logan :(

Logan has his 1st cold. I can just tell that he doesn't feel good. I've checked his temp the last two days and he hasn't had a fever. He has a really stuffy nose, making it hard for him to breathe. I went to Fred Meyer today and got him some baby saline spray. I put a couple drops up his nose (he hated it) and then sucked out all the boogies (he hated that even more)! His snot is clear, so I think that's a good thing - no sign of infection. We have a humidifier so I think we are going to try that tonight as well. He hasn't really taken a nap today, I tired for his morning nap and he just wasn't having it! Even though he was clearly tired. I'm trying again now after he's eaten and his nose is cleaned out. I have him in his swing right now, listening to some baby music and sucking away on his binky. I hope he will fall asleep!

I went to Border's yesterday and because they are closing everything in the store was at least 50% off! I got an awesome book called "Blender Baby Food." I'm going to start feeding him rice cereal (homemade) in October when he's around 5 months and then we will start the baby purees (homemade as well) in November when he's 6 months. I can't wait to start feeding him food, I bet he's going to love it!

Loving it!

I started scrap-booking a few days ago, and let me just say it is SO MUCH FUN! I've got about 7 pages done so far. It's turning out really cute :) I want to go back to the store and get some more paper, I'm almost out. I need to order some more pictures as well.

I'm applying for a transfer from Ventura Park to Earl Boyles. The main reason I want to work at a different school is to be closer to home (Logan). I'm already really bummed about having to go back to work - and on top of that I have to be placed at the school that is FURTHEST away from our house. UGH. The school I had been working at for 3 years is closed now (due to budget cuts, and it was a temporary school anyways). It's sad because all the staff is being placed wherever. I'm going to miss working with that group of people.

James and I are still doing Weight Watchers. Since we joined (I think 5-6 weeks ago) I have lost 10.4lbs and James has lost 8.6lbs! We are doing so good. Olive Garden is having their "Never ending Pasta Bowl" so we are going to go eat that tonight. I figure it's okay to be bad once in awhile - gotta live it up! And that pasta is just TOO yummy :)

One of my friends Sarah had her baby boy on Sunday. They named him Owen! Him and Logan are only 3ish months apart. I'm happy he will have a play-mate when they both get a little older. Here is a picture of them together:

A new hobby!

Summer is almost over, but for the last few weeks while Logan has been napping I have been *SO* bored! I needed to find a hobby, besides baking. I love to bake, but while I'm doing WW it really isn't a good idea. Scrap-booking came to mind yesterday. I love to take pictures and be artistic and creative - so what better idea than to make a 1st year scrapbook for Logan!
James, Logan, and I took a trip to Michale's yesterday evening. While we were there I got most of the supplies I needed to start his book :)

I got: a baby boy scrapbook kit, photo glue, 3D sticky dots, holiday/travel stickers (they were on sale), letters, paper, and a scrapbook.

Here is Logan's scrapbook, I didn't take a picture before. But here it is after I did his birthday and name (the scrapbook is orange)!

I can't wait to fill it up with things from his 1st year. I hope when he gets older he'll appreciate all the time and effort I put into this. If not, at least it's fun for me!

So out of shape...

James, Logan, and I went out jogging/walking this morning on the trail. And let me just say...I AM SO OUT OF SHAPE! I honestly didn't think it was going to be that hard to start up again. I haven't exercised like that since September, besides the normal everyday walking.

If I do get pregnant again (way down the road) I am going to make sure to eat healthier and to keep up on the exercising! Then I wouldn't be where I am right now...ugh, it's the worst. Not having any clothes that fit - all my shirts are too short, my pants are too tight OR don't even button. Logan is worth it though, so I don't mind doing a little extra work :) The jogging stroller was so smooth when I was jogging. Logan was asleep for half of the time and he didn't even budge!

My sunburn is almost gone today - which is crazy because it was so red last night. I think the aloe-vera really helped! Even though we went early this morning it was still really warm out. I was sweating like crazy! Thank goodness Logan has a nice shade cover.

Ouch!

Today I went walking with Amber and her daughter Riley. We did a nice walk around her neighborhood. It was an early morning walk and I *thought* we were in shade most of the time. I got the worst sunburn on my shoulders and back! I guess that's what I get for wearing a tank top. James put some aloe-vera on it, so it feels a little better now.

We went to Babies R Us and Old Navy tonight. Babies R Us is having a really good deal on their clearance clothes. Everything is $5 or less! We got 2 really cute outfits (12 month size for next Spring/Summer) for only $9! And Old Navy is having their jean sale - $15 a pair! So I got 2 pairs of jeans for when work starts.

Tomorrow James and I are planning on going out on the Spring Water Trail in the morning for a jog/walk with Logan. It's supposed to be in the 90's here tomorrow - so we want to go early in the morning before it gets too hot. James works at Toys R Us tomorrow...not sure what I'm going to do yet. And then Sunday we don't have any plans. Sometimes lazy days are good though! :)

Time to wake up!

So, as promised by my last post...I took some pictures of Logan waking up!

Hi Mommy! I'm awake!

Unwrapped his arms - big stretches!

The legs are out - even bigger stretches.

Oh, I'm still sleepy!

I love this guy! <3

Lunch Date & Target!

Today I got together with Kellie, Pam, and Amy (all old co-workers from North Powellhurst). We went to lunch at Red Robin. It was great to see them all, especially Kellie! She is due in December with a little girl named Claire Ann! I bet she's going to be one of the cutest little girls, can't wait to meet her!

Group picture at Red Robin!

After lunch, Logan and I went to Target. I needed to get a baby shower gift and some diaper pail refill things. While I was there I found a super cute onesie for Logan! I bought it in 6 month size because it's long sleeve and it will be perfect for Winter time! I also found a purple sports bra (on clearance)! I really need to start jogging again...I got the stroller and now the bra - no more excuses!

His cute new onesie :)

I've been trying to go walking with Amber and her daughter Riley 2 times a week. It's a lot of fun! Makes the walking go by a lot faster than doing it alone. We've walked all around her neighborhood - and even to Target once. Logan and I are going over there tomorrow for a walk, can't wait!

I still can't believe that summer is almost over. In a way I'm glad because I'm ready for Fall and Winter and all the celebrating we are going to do - but I really don't want to leave Logan :( It's going to be SO HARD going to a new school AND leaving him.

I decided it would be best for me to blog while he's napping. He's been asleep for awhile, it makes me miss him! I can't wait for him to wake up, he looks so cute when I unwrap him and he stretches out (pictures of that to come)!

Boy, Oh BOY!

Wow, I cannot believe that it has been about 10 months since I blogged last! SO much has happened since then.

During my pregnancy:

I started getting terrible "morning sickness" that lasted all day around 6 weeks. It was hard to eat and I always felt like I was going to puke. During my whole pregnancy I never puked once, though! I ended up buying some Sea Bands to wear, and those SAVED MY LIFE! I seriously don't know what I would have done without them.

Betty and Lou came to visit for Thanksgiving. I was about 16 weeks then and getting a little belly, although most of my clothes still fit. We got our stroller while they were here, and James put it together for me! A little after 16 weeks my "morning sickness" finally went away!

We were able to find out the gender on December 19th! What a perfect early Christmas gift. I had strong feelings since the beginning that the baby was going to be a boy. During the ultrasound the tech said "Oh, it looks like a girl. I'm not seeing anything stick out." And I was shocked and said "Really? Are you sure?" Just because I KNEW it was going to be a boy. Sure enough, she was moving the wand around and there popped out his little weenie! :) She said everything looked great and he was growing right on track. We pretty much had a name picked out for him from the start - Logan James! He was due to arrive on/around May 10th, 2011.

Christmas was pretty low key, we did the usual. Had a get together with my mom and her husband and had a get together here with my dad and his side. I made Logan his 1st stocking which he will probably use for this year only. Then next year when he's 1 I will buy him a different one!
His stocking I made for him :)

The rest of the pregnancy flew by, the beginning and the ending were the slowest parts. I had a total of 3 baby showers. One was at James' work (Lincoln Park Elementary) one was at my work (North Powellhurst Elementary) and then I had one family/friend shower! Logan got a TON of stuff that he's still using. Thank you for everyone who came and gave Logan a gift. He says thank you! :)

Here are a few belly shots:
30 weeks

34 weeks

37 weeks

40 weeks!

I went to my 40 week appointment on Wednesday the 11th. My blood pressure was high and Dr. Drake said he would feel most comfortable with inducing me that night and delivering him the following day. At first I was scared, I felt like crying. I did not want to be induced! I got into my car and called my mom and started crying. She told me everything would be fine and that I needed to listen to my doctor. I called my doctor and told him that yes I would like to come in that night to be induced. I went home, packed everything we needed and James and I headed to the hospital at 7:00pm. It was crazy driving away from home knowing that when we came back Logan would be with us!

We got to the hospital at 7:00pm and they put me in a room. I had to get in a gown and by 8:00 they were setting up my IV and Cervidil. Cervidil is a tampon looking thing that a nurse puts up by your cervix. It's supposed to help soften and dilate it. I had that in for 12 hours, pretty much over night and for the next morning. She took it out (it was painful going in AND coming out) and I had not dilated AT ALL from it. It pretty much did nothing for me.
Around 10:00am they started me on pitocin. That is a drug that helps start contractions. I started feeling contractions about a half hour later. At first they weren't bad, just felt like cramps.

Around 1:00pm Dr. Drake came in and broke my water. Logan had pooped so there was meconium in the water. They stuck a tube up inside my uterus and ran fluids to flush out all the bad stuff. I had that up there right until he came out.
I was going to try and do a natural labor, but after 8 hours of pain and knowing I had only dilated to a 3 - I gave in and got the epidural. By that time I was crying and shaking in pain. It was terrible! I give huge kudos to those mom's who can do it without an epidural. After the epidural the pain was very minimum, and the rest of the evening flew by!

I dilated pretty quickly after my epidural and my mom came up for support and to take pictures once he was born. I ended up pushing for an hour and then his head was coming out! I asked the nurse "When is my doctor going to come?" And she says "I guess I better call him!" I had to stop pushing and wait (about 15-20 mins) before he got there. After he arrived, I gave 6 pushes and Logan was born! His cord was really short so they couldn't lay him up on me. James cut it and they took him over to check him out. As soon as he came out I started crying like a baby! I think James and my mom were crying too. I finally got to hold him and snuggle a bit and then I heard Dr. Drake say "I think we may need to take her to the OR." I had really bad internal and exterior tearing. They took Logan away and wheeled me out. The last thing I wanted was to be taken away from my baby! I was crying and shaking so bad they had to sedate me. I was so scared, I didn't know what was wrong. After about an hour in the OR I was taken back to my room and James was on Skype with Betty showing her Logan. I finally got to hold him some more, and all was good!
My last picture being pregnant!

Logan is born! James cutting his cord.
He was born at 10:46pm on May 12th, 2011 - weighing 6lbs 9oz and he was 19 1/2 inches long!

Look how cute he is, already! :)

Our 1st snuggle - it was love at first sight!

One of my favorite pictures of him from the hospital.

I was in the hospital from Wednesday evening and we got to leave Saturday afternoon. We were so happy to be home with him!

Some of the things I struggled with at first was breastfeeding. Since I had a breast reduction in 2005 it was very hard. I was also in a lot of pain down below from everything that had happened. Everything was just so stressful, I am still sad to this day that breastfeeding didn't work out for us. All that matters now is that he's growing and becoming such a handsome little boy (even if he does have to drink formula)! Getting him on a sleeping schedule was hard at first too. I think the first 2-3 days I only got like 5 hours a sleep - TOTAL! It's funny because in some of the pictures I look so tired my eyes are almost closed.

Here are his monthly pictures/stats:

1 month old, 7lbs 10oz - 21 inches long.

2 months old, 9lbs 15oz - 22 1/2 inches long.

3 months old, 11lbs 6oz - 24 inches long.

I cannot believe how much he's changed over the last few months. He's so cute and so much fun! He's turning into such a sweet little boy. He just started "talking" and squealing, it's super cute! I go back to work in about 3 weeks, I'm really not looking forward to that. It's going to be so hard to leave him!!! I am thankful that my dad is more than likely going to watch him for me!

On another note, during my pregnancy I gained about 55lbs *YIKES*! I am down about 20ish but I still have a long ways to go. I started doing Weight Watchers again. My goal is to be down to my pre-pregnancy weight by my birthday (which is January 3rd).

Well, I think that's all my updating I need to do for now. I am going to try to update this thing more often (like every few days or so). We'll see how that goes! :)
